58th year of the International Music Competition Beethoven's Hradec is going to be announced for piano.
Soutěž je určena interpretům do 32 let (včetně). Všechna soutěžní kola jsou přístupná veřejnosti, kandidáti nehrají anonymně. V průběhu soutěže mohou být pořizovány zvukové nebo obrazové záznamy, které může pořadatel využít k propagačním účelům bez dalšího souhlasu kandidáta. Autorská práva související s tímto využitím záznamu nelze uplatnit.
The competition is going to take place in June 2022 in Hradec nad Moravicí Castle, in which the Lichnovský family once hosted a number of prominent figures, including Ludwig van Beethoven in 1806 and 1811 and Franz Liszt in 1846 and 1848.
The 58th International Piano Competition is organised by Beethovenův Hradec, z. s. and the Basic Art School, Opava in cooperation with the National Heritage Institute – the Hradec nad Moravicí Castle Administration, and with the financial support of the Moravian-Silesian Region, the Czech Ministry of Culture, and other sponsoring parties.
Online form for application is going to be opened during autumn 2021.
Applicants will fill in the application online, which include a photo and a confirmation of payment of entry fee.
Because of capacity there will be accepted first 45 applications.
Participants will pay the entry fee 1600 Kč (or 65 EURO). Instructions for the payment will be specified during autumn 2021.
1st round maximum playing time 15 minutes.
a) Johann Sebastian Bach: Prelude and Fugue (from the Well Tempered Clavier — Books I and II)
b) Franz Liszt: Etude (any Etude for the piano)
2nd round playing time 35 – 45 minutes
a) Ludwig van Beethoven: any Sonata (all movements, the competitor does not have to respect the repetitions in the exposition)
b) A major piece/pieces for the piano (a selection of pieces from a set also possible) written in the 19th , 20th or 21st century
3rd round* One of the concertos for piano and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven:
Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, op. 15
Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major, op. 19
Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, op. 37
Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, op. 58
Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major, op. 73
Pieces in all three rounds have to be played from memory.
*The 3rd round of the competition will take place in cooperation with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava. The competition organiser reserves the right to hold the 3rd round with piano accompaniment. Such change will be published on the festival and competition website, www.beethovenuvhradec.cz, no later than by the end of April 2021.
Programme of the competition will be specified during autumn 2021.

The jury reserves the right to not award some of the prizes and to divide the corresponding financial reward should a prize be awarded to more than one contestant. The decision of the jury is final.
Competitors are responsible for arranging and paying their own accommodations. Hotels and hostels at different price levels are available in Hradec nad Moravicí as well as in the nearby town of Opava. The organiser is not responsible for underage competitors nor liable for any potential damage that may arise during the course of the competition.
